My faceless friend
Brought me hope and reason to live again
When hope was completely lost
And could not be found no-where
Now hope is now-here
Before the sun wipes the dew off
Every morning in the green palms
Off the cocoyam leaves,
He finds a place there for me
After last night’s downpour
The corn in the field lies prostrate
Like Muslims at salah
At the touch of the sun
And the sound of Allahu Arkbar
I know I will rise again
My faceless friend is full of love
Love in abundance beyond measures
To my faceless
I say, I care
