Poetry: Behind That Tree

Behind that tree

I rediscovered my inner image

My wept eyes

Drains a gallon full of tears

Behind that tree

I sob, sob and sob

Again, again and again

Moments of yester-years failures re-occur

Into my shallow memories

Moment of great anguish

Rebels in my think tank

Again, again and again

Behind that tree comes in

Joys of decades ago

Times when laughter was on the lips of the common houseboy

Times I shared with you

Those lovely moments

Worth remembering

Behind that tree

I wish and wish and wish

Again, again and again

But wishes dwindle and flicker into the unknown

Wisdom certainly follows the path

Once trodden by foolishness

Behind that tree

I will still continue

To wish and wish and wish

Again and again and again

Behind that tree

I envisioned along that lonely road

How my love and me

Shall go dressed in peace

And wearing a smile of flowers and fruits entwined

Behind that tree

I will continue to envision
